Needles & Syringes

What If You Find Them?
Soham does not have a large
drug problem. However, a small number of drug users sometimes discard needles
and syringes thoughtlessly. It is possible that at some time you or someone you know may find a needle or
syringe in a public area. If this happens, you need to know how to arrange for
this to be disposed of quickly and safely, so that we can safeguard our
community from any potential risk.
If you do find a Needle
or Syringe:
Do NOT touch it
Do NOT hide it
Do NOT kick it down a drain or out of sight
Do NOT put it in a dustbin, litter bin or down a toilet
DO telephone the District Council or the Police on the number below to
arrange for it to be removed.
The needle will be collected as soon as possible, but it may not be collected
immediately.
If you want to do something yourself to protect others, cover it with a strong
box or tin until someone can collect it.
WARNING Do NOT remove a needle
yourself - safe disposal is essential and there is a risk of injury.
