Do You Live In Soham ? Soham Town Forum was started in 1998 by a group of forward thinking Town Councillors and members of the community who believed that the people of Soham should have a regular forum where they could discuss issues concerning the town with their Councillors and representatives. For almost ten years Soham Town Forum has been actively involved in the local issues which affect your quality of life in Soham. The Forum has initiated, raised awareness of, and supported a number of projects and volunteer groups, many of which report back to the Forum on a regular basis, including Soham Community History Museum and Viva Arts & Community Group. It has also initiated and seen to fruition many local projects, including CCTV, Ely-Soham Dial-a-Ride, and the Soham Millennium Walks Art Trail. Since its inception Soham Town Forum has supported and liaised on a number of East Cambridgeshire District Council initiatives, including the Town Centre Regeneration Scheme, Broadband Internet coverage throughout East Cambridgeshire and in turn has received valuable administrative support and advice. In November 2007 East Cambridgeshire District Council withdrew their administrative support for the Forum, following the setting up of the Soham and East Neighbourhood Panel, which includes several other parishes. Forum members voted to retain Soham Town Forum and continue to work towards a sustainable future for our town. In order to do this we require the support of our Town, District and County Councillors, many of whom have already assured us of their continued support, and members of our community. Soham Town Forum Needs Your Support! Soham Town Forum is run as a voluntary committee. It offers you an opportunity to speak up for your town. Anyone who lives here is eligible to come along and take part in meetings and all of our meetings are open to the general public. We do follow an agenda, which currently lists issues such as the Youth Development, Soham Festival, Soham Community Hall Trust and Soham Railway Station Campaign, but we have pledged to discuss any issues residents raise at our meetings. Meetings are attended by the Committee and Town, District and County Councillors, which means that where appropriate, matters can be taken forward. Soham Town Forum requires limited funding and but can only continue with your support. Could you give a couple of
hours every six weeks to your community?
